This is an exquisite representation of the beautiful Green Tara, one of the more popular forms of the savior Goddess Tara, worshiped for her assistance in aiding the believer to overcome obstacles on the path to enlightenment. In this version, she is depicted with her characteristically nymph-like green body in a posture of ease and readiness for action. While her left leg is folded in the contemplative position, her right leg is gently outstretched just above the ground, ever ready to spring into action at the slightest request. She holds the symbolic half-opened lotus (utpala) which represents purity and power in her right hand and a lotus and staff in her left. Sitting on a lotus seat.

Green Tara is a goddess of activity who symbolizes youthful vigor. Although she is the fiercer form of Tara, she is a savior-Bodhisattva of compassion especially revered for her ability to overcome the most difficult of situations. Besides her traditional protective role, this version of the Green Tara is said to have the additional ability to bring success and wealth by overcoming obstacles and hindrances. When called upon, this intensely compassionate goddess instantaneously acts to help grant us our sincere wishes. Chant the mantra of Tara to invoke all her blessings.
